Professional Experience Synopsis

Mr. Bowen joined Klock Planners Architects, now known as KPA Associates, Inc. (KPAA) in 1988. At KPAA he has evaluated hundreds of building interiors, roofs, and exteriors by visual inspection and destructive testing of below-grade waterproofing systems, roofs, windows, decks, and fire-resistive assemblies. In 1992 Mr. Bowen earned his California architect's license and was promoted to project architect for the firm. In 1995 Mr. Bowen became a shareholder and in 1996 a managing architect at KPAA. Bowen has successfully managed scores of projects totaling thousands of multifamily units and single-family units in California and Nevada. He is the client’s first point of contact at the firm and handles all aspects of projects, from inspections through report preparation and participation in settlement conferences.

Mr. Bowen was elected to the board of directors of KPA Associates, Inc. from 1999 through 2000 and again in 2004. He served as a corporate officer (secretary) during his 2000 tenure on the board.

Professional Experience Synopsis

Since 1990 Mr. Brown has served KPAA Associates, Inc. as a managing architect on forensic cases involving a variety of commercial, single-family and multifamily housing projects. Mr. Brown manages many of the firm’s largest and most complex investigations. His responsibilities include inspecting and documenting existing project conditions, researching building standards and materials, developing repair recommendation drawings and reports and coordinating the preparation of cost estimates for repairs to projects involving thousands of units. As a managing architect at KPAA, Mr. Brown is the client's point of contact at the firm and participates in expert meetings, mediations, and settlement conferences. As a designated architectural expert witness, Mr. Brown gave deposition testimony on behalf of the developer in the matter of Chun v. Andrea. He has been involved in the forensic investigation of projects totaling over 18,000 units.

Professional Experience Synopsis

Prior to joining KPAA, Mr. Lewis was involved in the design of institutional healthcare facilities, bank remodels, commercial tenant improvement projects, educational facilities and custom residential projects. He is familiar with the building permit documentation process for the local city building departments, State Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development agency and the Department of State Architect.

Mr. Lewis joined KPA Associates, Inc. in 2006. At KPAA he has inspected hundreds of building interiors, exteriors, and roofs by visual inspection and destructive testing. In 2009 Mr. Lewis became a shareholder of KPAA and continues to expand his role in the company. Mr. Lewis is instrumental in assisting the Managing Architects with their report preparation, and organizing presentation material for mediation.
