    Forensic Experience

    As a Principal Architect and President of KPA Associates, Inc. (KPAA), Mr. Cobb provides architectural expert witness and litigation consulting services for construction defect and personal injury cases, including investigation, analysis, mediation and expert testimony on design, building codes, general construction, repair methods and standards of care in design and construction.

    • Reviewing construction documents, contracts, and other construction phase records;
    • Inspecting and documenting existing building and site conditions;
    • Directing and observing destructive testing investigations;
    • Coordinating with other investigative consultants;
    • Researching building codes, materials, installation procedures and other technical issues;
    • Developing repair methods and documentation;
    • Coordinating the extent of repair and allocations of responsibility;
    • Preparing and issuing reports of findings and repair recommendations, and participating in mediations, settlement conferences and experts' meetings.

    Mr. Cobb's design and construction experience has ranged from single-family and multifamily residential developments to office/industrial buildings, retail projects, schools, and public meeting facilities. He began his architectural career in 1972 with work on the El Cajon Civic Center and other institutional projects in Southern California.

    As founder of his own full-service architectural firm, Mr. Cobb was responsible for the design of over 200 residential, commercial and institutional projects over a period of 20 years. Specializing in extremely creative design solutions for challenging sites, particularly along California's sensitive coastal areas, Mr. Cobb has the experience, management and leadership skills needed to take projects from the programming and initial design phases through completion of construction.
