KPA Associates, Inc. (KPAA) provides forensic architectural services for litigation involving construction matters and personal injuries, including investigation, analysis, mediation and expert testimony on architecture, building codes, general construction, repair methods and standards of care in design and construction. Since 1980, KPAA has provided expert witness deposition, arbitration and trial testimony as related to construction defect and personal injury claims.

The members of KPAA’s professional team have extensive experience in performing all aspects of forensic services for projects of all sizes and types, including individual homes, multi-unit residential projects, commercial and institutional buildings, and high rise condominium projects. Our clients have included building owners, developers, insurance companies, general contractors, and a wide variety of subcontractors who appreciate how KPAA’s cost-effective innovative solutions facilitate the timely resolution of disputes. We are known for our creative, economical repair solutions and clear, concise reports and graphics.

Proprietary Data Analysis System

At the heart of KPAA's forensic services is a powerful and efficient relational database application developed by KPAA over the past decade and custom-tailored to meet the changing needs of our clients. This proprietary data analysis system provides the means for KPAA's evidence-based approach to forensic architecture through all phases of a case - from inspection documentation, establishment of analysis criteria, multiple data analysis modes, formulation of repair recommendations, and a veritable plethora of reporting options.

The data analysis system represents a value-added resource for both our clients as well as other consultants we work with on our projects. This tool is useful in cases as small as a single residence to cases involving thousands of units across multiple developments, phases and plan types. Whether providing a cursory overview of observed conditions for mediation or thorough and rigorous analysis of complex conditions in preparation for deposition and/or trial, this system enables KPAA to deliver rich fact-based data in a cost-effective manner for our clients.

"The Biggest Small Firm In The Industry"

With nine fully-licensed architects (many of whom are licensed in several states) and five forensic technicians, for a total of 14 qualified field personnel (all with several years of forensic experience), KPAA is able to staff any investigation as needed.

Another benefit to our clients is that by having six Principal Architects, any of whom are fully qualified for designation as an architectural expert, we are able to provide more personal attention to our clients' needs. Smaller firms and even some much larger firms, typically only have one designated expert to oversee all cases. KPAA's team of experts offers unparalleled attention to detail and provides invaluable collaboration in-house to address even the most complex situations and demands with finesse and a high level of accuracy.

Overall, our Principal Architects and Managing Architects remain committed to KPAA's core values going back nearly 25 years - responding to our clients' needs in a cost-effective and efficient manner. We work very closely with our clients to establish and maintain a budget for each case. KPAA strives to exceed our clients’ expectations, while staying within the budget.

The Changing Face Of Construction Defect Litigation

In the past 25 years, just as architectural design has evolved dramatically, so has forensic architecture. From the Calderon Process to the ramifications of the Aas decision to SB800 and Nevada’s Chapter 40, KPAA has risen to the challenges of these changes and remains at the forefront of providing expert witness services. Our systems and processes have developed in response to the changing needs of litigation and we continue to improve and refine these processes on an ongoing basis.

Today, KPAA is prepared to respond to the needs of any situation.
