FORTUNE 500 BUILDER PREVAILS IN PERSONAL INJURY CASE
Andrew Bowen evaluated reports, drawings, photographs, and building codes to assess the plaintiff's claim that a window opening was a safety hazard as designed and built. Andrew testified in a jury trial that the design of the window opening met the Code and that the opening was built as shown on the approved drawings. The jury returned a defense verdict.
RON TOV TESTIFIES ON BEHALF OF WOMAN INJURED IN PARKING LOT
An individual tripped on a concrete wheel stop as she walked from her car to the entrance of a medical center, sustaining injuries. Ron Tov was retained as the plaintiff’s designated architectural expert on the case. While investigating the scene of the accident, Ron found conditions in violation of the California Building Code such as missing signage and a lack of curb ramps on the route from the plaintiff’s parking place to the medical building’s entrance. He also determined that there were too few accessible parking spaces at the facility. Ron presented these findings in court testimony. The verdict came back in favor of his client.
Since this case, Ron has become a California-Certified Accessibility Specialist (CASp). Ron assists building owners by evaluating their properties, identifying accessibility violations, and recommending alterations to bring everything up to current standards of accessibility.
